By the way Ian, I have drawers full of floppy disks - even the big ones - CDs, DVDs with PLC software on them, cables, hand held programmers, EPROM burners, interface units, printer interface units, dongles, software dongles - you name it. See Ian, not only Omron - I have been quite a versatile little puppy over the years. Several other brands over the years too - quite a few no longer exist.Īll have their quirks, all have a learning curve, all have functions etc that you wish were in all the others. Reload the program and all was good again for a while. I have use hand held programmers - man they were a pain - EPROM burners, early EEPROMs with very few burns available and subject to noise - the program used to change! Often you could not find the change but there was an extra bite when comparing what was on the laptop and what was in the PLC.

Over the years I have programmed AB, GE, AD, Siemens, Unitronics, later series of Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Phoenix, Wago, Eberle, Modicon, AEG, Festo, Schneider, with various flavours of software DOS and Windows based - ie pretty pictures. Have always programmed using a keyboard - fast and furious! I do not like the current direction of tag based and drag and drop - finish up with RSI from using a mouse and it is way too slow. Always used CAPS software for programming the old C20 - the others were by hand help programmer and boolean. I was then introduced to Omron sequencers, M1R, S series and finally the old C20. Then went to Hitachi J series PLCs with better software.
I started out with Hitachi D range PLCs and really crappy DOS software. May I add the C200H is a very old PLC - it has been discontinued for years. What on earth could I possibly be doing wrong here? I have read about 253.13 and 253.14 but I do not see how that could affect me if I make no reference to it in my program.
I CAN force the coil high or low - and a curious point of fact, once I cancel the force the bit remains in the forced state. I can assign any address I want to the coil, and it will not energize. My switch input works just fine and my rung turns green, but not the coil. I have the simplest ladder instruction possible: an input, assigned to my digital input card in CH2 controlled by physical switch, going to a coil - nothing else in the PLC program. Never did, so I tried writing some bits and I can't even do that. I figured I was using the arithmetic function incorrectly so I spent several hours trying to figure that out. I tried doing some arithmetic functions initially but I wasn't getting any output.
